The Energy Efficiency for Boilers Campaign was launched by the Government in order to raise awareness of and advice on energy efficiency in the home.
Over 50% of your home's total energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions comes from heating and hot water. With increased demands for us to reduce our carbon footprint and become 'greener', the efficiency of your boiler has a significant impact on the overall efficiency of your home.
This campaign was introduced by the Government. They have worked closely alongside organisations such as British Gas, CORGI, OFTEC, HETAS, IDHEE, the Energy Saving Trust and the Heating and Hot Water Industry Council to ensure that the advice offered to you is reliable and informative.
The Department of Communities and Local Government (CLG) works with the heating and hot water industry to provide you with sound advice about the energy efficiency of your heating and hot water systems.
There's a simple checklist and recommendations that can be used by a heating engineer when your heating system is serviced. It will give your boiler's SEDBUK rating and provide valuable information on the estimated savings that you could make by improving heating your system, both in terms of carbon emissions and your pennies!
You can find out more about this campaign by visiting the CLG website.
