Walk to School Week 18-22 May

National Walk to School week is on from the 18-22 May 2009. The EnergyHub Juniors think that to keep active and have fun why don't you take part. This year the slogan is "Walk 'n Talk" so think of all the brilliant things you could be talking about when you walk to school with your friends.

Important

If you are going to be walking to school make sure you go with an adult.

Why Walk to School?

There are loads of great benefits you can get from walking to school. You can help the environment by not using the car or taking a bus. Walking is great excercise too. And you can have fun chatting with your friends as you walk.

Did you know...

One quarter of all human bones are found in the feet
Left handed people are generally left footed as well
You use 200 muscles in your body to walk
In your lifetime you will end up walking the equivalent of three and a half times around the earth!
The mudskipper is a fish that can walk on land!

Fun Stuff

Neil Armstrong was the very first person to walk on the moon. Do you know what he said when he landed - it's something to do with small steps? Why not count the number of steps it takes you to walk to school.

Park and stride!

If you get a lift into school, why not convince the driver to "Park and Stride".  You can park the car a short distance from the school and walk the rest of the way!
